Does anyone know if the movers will ship an outdoor trampoline when you PCS back to the States?

Dawnmom25 --- 13 years ago -

Yes they should if you take it apart first.

9 times out of 10....they'll ship anything if you get TMO guys that don't care.

Tori --- 13 years ago -

Thanks. I was just wondering because I've noticed that some people mention that they are PCSing when posting a trampoline for sale on LYS. I didn't want to buy one and then just have to turn around and sell it in 1 1/2 years.

You will be able to ship it without a problem. The only thing you must ensure is that it is completely clean. No dirt, mold, bugs.

I think people sell them because they don't know how big their yard is going to be. We have sold ours before moving. We figure we can buy a new one if we have space. We don't take stuff If we need it.

Thanks for the information everyone. My kids are going to be so excited.

Been there, done that. Bought the t-shirt. 4 overseas PCS moves and they will pack anything. Garbage included.

Yeah, the TMO guys that moved us from England to here even boxed up THEIR old empty tape rolls and used strap ties.....

Jeni --- 13 years ago -

We had a butter dish with a brand new stick of butter moved for us--to the SOUTHWEST. That box was a total joy to open.

I had a Ralph Lauren dress that was wrapped around a bag of trash. Trash that included poop diapers from the bathroom that was clearly marked, "Please do not pack this room". That was a pleasant surprise!

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Oh my, I probably would have blew chunks finding that surprise.

Our TMO guys somehow managed to pack a canister of bread crumbs (for cooking) that exploded while in transit and left little crumbs of mold all over the contents of one of the boxes. It was wonderful to clean up.

I mentioned this once before...but my wife attended a outprocessing briefing at RAFM and they cited a time when a family was PCSing....TMO boxed up their CAT. They only found it from the meowing coming from one of the boxes just before they were going to nail the crates shut.

Their was another family that had their kitten come up missing...turn out the poor thing wound up in the washing machine....only to be found AFTER the shipment made it's way by boat to their next assignment. Needless to say the kitty didn't survive.

So yeah, TMO will ship ANYTHING.

My buddy got here from Germany. He wanted his lawnmower shipped back to the US. The customs inspector looked at it and told him he needed to clean all the grass bits off it as well as any particle of dirt. It needed to be completely spotless. Before the inspector left he instructed the TMO guys in German to "Make sure he cleans that properly before shipping it". My friend can speak some German...so he knew what they were told.

After the guy left the boss of the other TMO guys walked up to him and said "Don't worry about it, we'll bag it up and ship it as is". When my friend explained "I need to clean it" the TMO guy replied "What? You don't have grass where you are going?". Lol, so with that it was bagged, boxed and numbered. It's here now....I mowed my lawn with it once and it doesn't seem like the delicate ecosystem has been thrown off balance yet.

I love you man, your comments are ALWAYS so helpful and uplifting. I guess you must be so smart that my sense of humor went both above your head and between your legs. Wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Also, there is no need to criticize me....I'm not the TMO guy that decided to ship the mower over here. Another valid point, is that my buddy has used the mower well over an entire year here stateside before we even left England. It isn't like he just got here....in fact we did, and we felt we should have left our lawnmower back in England because we felt we couldn't get it clean enough to prevent anything detrimental happening. Think before you speak Holmes.......you may find others are wayyyyyy ahead of you.
