Leave us your comments. Help us getting better. What do you think of the service, quality of product and speed of service?

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

Service is great - the folks are really friendly. Quality of product is hit-or-miss, especially if you grab one of the boxes under the heat lamps. The boneless wings, when in stock, are pretty good. The speed of service is pretty slow, to be honest. Many times when eating there with coworkers we've wondered what takes so long about tossing chicken nuggets in sauce.

a3727994uu --- 13 years ago -

When did you last ordered wings? Was this recently? We had some issues on the beginning because the fryer is very small and we can only fry 80 wings at the time, if we have big orders it's very difficult to manage... but now I think we are getting better... We are very happy to know that you appreciate the products and the service! Thank you. Let us know any issues you might have... we'll try to solve it.

Few weeks ago, before I stopped eating there. Nothing against Pizza Hut - I decided to cut the food court out completely for dietary purposes.

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

for dietary purposes.

good luck! :)

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

Thanks! It's actually been a lot easier since I discovered the commissary's salad bar. It's the only one on Mildenhall that has what I actually like in a salad, which is awesome 'cause it's also the cheapest.

Jessi --- 13 years ago -

FYI about the salad bar... numerous people have gotten food poisoning from it... that and I have seen parents let their kids rummage through things in it.. eww..

datboy --- 13 years ago -

I get the wings there sometimes. I dont care for the Garlic Parmesean though. They are too salty for me and the way they look with that sauce on them....I wish I could tell you what it looks like to me..

Taloolah Brit Belle --- 13 years ago -

numerous people have gotten food poisoning from it
Has this been documented and proven that the food poisoning came from there, if not I don't think this comment should be posted on here!

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

Yeah, I'd be hesitant to believe that unless Public Health said something. Folks would have to eat only salad from that salad bar every day for every meal to be able to just outright say they had food poisoning from it. I've been eating every lunch - literally - from there for more than two weeks now and haven't had a problem. If I see some kid rummaging through it, especially with bare hands, I'm the kind of guy to get the parents and the manager together raise an unholy stink about it.

meanie --- 13 years ago -

Does anyone remember chicken place on base and what happened last year? Yeah, that wasn't made public knowledge.... Trust me when I say that bases keep this stuff hush hush for whatever reason.

Folks would have to eat only salad from that salad bar every day for every meal to be able to just outright say they had food poisoning from it.

Nope, the people who work at the clinic can put two and two together when multiple people come in puking their guts out and they all ate the same thing shockingly. That's all I'm gonna say.

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

That's all fine and good. Obviously that hasn't happened yet, so I still think it's hearsay. The captain at public health who does food audits is a personal friend. We were out to dinner Tuesday, and talking about food choices on the menu at the restaurant. It came up that I was eating only from that salad bar for lunch and she didn't have a word to say about it. You would think if a bunch of food poisoning cases had popped up there, she'd at least give me a heads up. And then there's the 2+ weeks eating there without so much as a nasty burp to fuel my skepticism. Maybe their salad dressings have gone bad - I don't use 'em. That's all I'm gonna say.

Jessi --- 13 years ago -

Yup it has!! thats why they closed for a little bit for them to get it cleaned up and make the tureens that hold the cold stuff actually stay cold throughout the day!! my husband and numerous people at his work were getting sick as they would all go together and get a salad, put two and two together and came up with what they were all eating to get sick that was the same and it was the salad bar...

Jessi --- 13 years ago -

Plus I have a few friends that work at the commissary and after hearing comments and stuff from them about the salad bar, I would definitely keep my distance lol.

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

For god's sake, why is it that the only decently priced healthy option with things I actually like that gets me out of the office is a freaking bio-hazard?! I still don't believe it based on my personal experiences, but whatever.

wifey (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I've never once gotten sick from the salad bar at the commissary. Or heard bad stories about it. Now I am put off...

Jessi --- 13 years ago -

I still don't believe it based on my personal experiences, but whatever.

Thats cool if you have had good experiences, but its just my personal experiences and things employees have said that would bring me to never eat it again :-)

Taloolah Brit Belle --- 13 years ago -

I guess the only way you can truly be sure your food is safe is to prepare and cook it yourself!

MrsAmy --- 13 years ago -

All I'm going to say is I used to work in produce for a long time.

Trust me we constantly check the salad bar, the temp and the contents. We keep an eye out for kids, and the items are constantly rotated to keep fresh.

There is a reason we ordered the new barrels to store the nuts, to try and keep kids out and playing with them.

I love stories that begin with "I know someone.."

As for the Chicken Joint, it was public knowledge, I even got the email to my work account about it.

Taloolah Brit Belle --- 13 years ago -

Not so hush, hush then!! Lol! I love a good conspiracy theory.
BTW I know someone.......

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Trust me we constantly check the salad bar, the temp and the contents.

Is this the same for the Mildenhall commissary? I don't see as many kids in there but sometimes the salad bar does look a little too...disheveled. Nothing against the commissary but seeing all the flies around the Subway fresh produce area has kinda put me off to salad bars in general. I make my own now. :) Cheaper too!

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

Eating my delicious commissary salad - that cost me $2.70 - right now. Mmmm mmmm. Now if they would only get it in their heads that not everyone wants lettuce and tomato on their sandwiches, we'd be golden. The look and attitude I got when I asked if they made sandwiches to order was almost enough to go looking for the manager. Instead I'll just make them into an unlikable character in a comic.

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

:( Why did that remind me of a certain infamous Spiderman quote?

not everyone wants lettuce and tomato on their sandwiches

Agreed! I always feel bad that my hubby has to pick at his food for a while before he can actually settle back and enjoy it. Also more wrap options would be nice. I'm not a fan of eating more bread than meat. :P Actually instead of just posting about it here, I think I'll go in and suggest it next time I'm in the area. :) Hopefully they don't give me a similar grouchy face...

Peace --- 13 years ago -

They should have comment cards to fill out. Take a minute to fill it out. I requested Dr pepper 10 awhile back and 3 weeks later they had it. Could have been in the works already, but I felt satisfied. Lol. It hasn't been back since though :(

When I ran the deli/bakery at our last base we put a piece of those little plastic sheets we used for the deli meat on top of lettuce and tomato and then laid the sandwich on top of that, so it didn't touch the bread cause I don't like my bread soggy so I figured customers didn't either!

AND BACK TO RAF MILDENHALLS PIZZA HUT...
Anyone tried out the huts delivery service? Wonder what their limits are eg flight line/off base etc?

meanie --- 13 years ago -

If anyone think the base/military has your best interest in hand, take a look at what has been going on at Ramstein. That was all rumor and hear say for months on end until it was finally confirmed recently after it wen to the extremes. We could open up a whole other topic though if anyone would like to discuss it.

Dawnmom25 --- 13 years ago -

@meanie
What happened at Ramstein?

I heard that the Guys who worked at Subway on RAFM weren't washing their hands after going to the bathroom. There is an investigation. I don't know if that is all they are investigating?

Last month my hubby and and went to grab lunch at Subway on RAFL, it had just been shut down and the off base police were there. Have no idea why though.

meanie --- 13 years ago -

The attempted abductions months ago and recent molestation. This has been ongoing since last year and only the citizens have been warning each other but it was blown off as hearsay and rumors until the commander finally came forward after a 5 year old girl was molested on base by, they believe, the same individual. One of my friends, who is a parent, said there was a recent but unsuccessful abduction here as well. At least he commander here is saving his butt by releasing this information sooner. Anything that gets released is in the commander hands and opinion if it should.

meanie --- 13 years ago -

Let me add before anyone says this, I am fully aware and agree with the fact that if parents watched their kids, this wouldn't happen. But some parents get lax when they believe safety is no longer an issue. Regardless of the lack of supervision, people still would like to know what's going on in the community around them and just maybe, this information being released sooner would have done something.
