I think yesterday was their last day before the change to pizza hut. Sad! I like their pizza's better. I hope they keep the same employees though. Those guys are so nice!

starsha --- 13 years ago -

I may be the only one, but good riddance... While the employees are nice (and should be given the opportunity to transfer like the one on Lakenheath) their product tasted like cardboard.

But then, there's no pizza like Chicago's or New York's... ;)

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I may be the only one, but good riddance...

I think you are the only one. The Pizza here BLOWS horribly. Anthony's actually had one of the best pies around. The Great Little Pizza Place is good too, but they took a DRASTIC dive when they moved....and left the most important piece behind. The Fountain Drink Machine! I made a point to get one last Anthony's pizza yesterday....in fact I'm eating a slice now! Goodbye Anthony's......hopefully you are going strong at our next base!

The Pizza Hut here on base is like eating raw dough with toppings. Those kids apparently don't know how to slow the belt on the oven down a little.

In my hometown we actually had one of the greatest pizza's EVER. There used to be a pair of Italian brothers (that have since been deported back to Italia). They made a large pizza that was about 20" in diameter...I have a pic of it, let me see if I can post it.

This pic was taken back in 2007, it was in my hometown of Titusville PA. It is a great memory of mine....my wife & I as well as my Bro-in-law went there with my oldest Son. It was great. Look at the size of that custom ordered pizza box! HUGE

wifey (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Oh wow, big pizza! And it looks tasty. We never eat at Anthonys or pizza hut on base. We only get it from the Great Little Pizza Place.

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Great Little Pizza Place

Yeah, they make some excellent pies too! I don't go there much though since they lost the fountain machine.....gotta have my fountain coke!

That pizza in the pic was THE best pizza I've ever had....EVER. Wow, it was super awesome. It sucks those guys got deported cause I'll never have another one like it. Must have been an old family recipe they used.

I'm a sucker for the slices with big bubbles in the dough.... ;)

That specific Pizza shop used to be owned by my wife's cousin Brian. He went out of business though after many years of operation. Then, these two Italian brothers came to our town and set up shop in that building. They churned out some amazing food. Since they left though it just isn't the same. Amazing how much greatness a good pizza can bestow upon the world.

wifey (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

They make pies at the pizza place? I didnt know that!

Family/home made recipes are the best!

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I have been craving homemade apple pie....mmmm...

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

They make pies at the pizza place?

Huh? Lol, no I was saying that they make some excellent pizza as well.

You know...like the song. "When the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie....thats amore!" (sing it Deano!)

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I was at the BXtra today.....soooooo dead without Anthony's running! Even the guy that used to work at Anthony's (with the Italian accent) was working at Baskin Robbins instead and he told me it's been slow all day.

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Even the guy that used to work at Anthony's (with the Italian accent) was working at Baskin Robbins

all the more reason to go there now :)

Haha! Wifey, you totally earn cute points for that one :)

Hmmm, I would have to hear the song hahahaha preggo brain

Dean Martin singing "That's Amore!"

.soooooo dead without Anthony's running!

That made me laugh... I don't know which Bxtra you've been going to, but even before they closed, they were NEVER busy.

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

That made me laugh...

I'm glad I'm here for your amusement. Would you like the latitude/longitude? I've been going to the RAF Mildenhall "BXtra". It is located in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk County just north of London and close to the prestigious University town of Cambridge.

The RAF Mildenhall BXtra offers so much for the new Airman you & your family will wonder how you ever liked being stationed elsewhere!

Let me ask you THIS "Starsha". Have YOU ever been to the BXtra at lunchtime on a weekday? Try it and tell me it isn't "busy". It is literally a sea of Sage Green during lunchtime. In case you haven't noticed the BXtra is the biggest AAFES Food Court available to those stationed in the area (or the civilians that work on the bases)

You joined this site only two weeks ago, did you just PCS to this area? I've been here for nearly 4 years now and I have seen the BXtra pretty busy on many occasions.

Jeni --- 13 years ago -

nevermind

starsha --- 13 years ago -

ooooo - you've been here 4 years... good for you. I've been here quite a while myself. I am new to the site not new to the area. I HAVE been to the food court there many times - Taco Bell and Burger King are ALWAYS busy with a "sea of green" but the guys at Anthony's are staring out into space with nothing to do and NO LINE.

I'm sorry you think it was great - I don't. And unlike "SSDD" Starsha is my name.

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

nevermind

Thank you.

And unlike "SSDD" Starsha is my name.

Well you seem to already know my name. I chose "SSDD" because of it's meaning.....it fits being stationed here to a perfect "T". I always saw the Anthony's Pizza staff making pizza....I saw them staring out into space no more than BK or Taco Bell. If anything Baskin Robbins had the least business. They do so little business they often don't have a dedicated employee there! It's usually one the Anthony's people that worked both booths, although the pizza place did more business.

It's ok if people don't accept my opinions/ideas/comments. Nobody has to, and I never claim to be the be all end all authority on any one thing. But it would be nice if these little squabbles over what ultimately amounts to nothing would stop. It's flattering that so many posters find little ol' me worth arguing with for the sake of the final word but please, don't waste your breath on me. I'd rather people just share their comments about the topic at hand.

This topic is about Anthony's Pizza being gone. Then, all of a sudden people try to turn into being negative towards me. I'm just like you all. I'm a stay at home parent/home maker that has a great spouse that serves in the Military. I shop at the same stores, I drive around in the same areas. I'm not just a digital entity that only operates on LU.

My opinions may differ, often times they do! Sometimes my opinions differ greatly simply because I'm not often "in line" with the masses. Many things other people feel strongly about or believe in I'm completely the opposite. This often times generates the type of drama I've had to deal with on here since I joined.

This is the type of stuff that has caused many good members to stop coming on here and delete their own accounts. So please, from this point on can we all just agree to disagree and carry on in a civil manner? That's what adults do....so lets do just that. I'm not being condescending about it either, I'm just making a point about it.

About the "NO LINE" thing at Anthony's. I assume you understand that the bulk of their sales was in large pizzas....you know that right? They also took telephone orders as well. I don't know how many times I've seen an E6-E7 walk in there to pick up about 5 or 6 large pizzas, pay for them and leave. There would normally not be a long line because people would just walk up and say "Hi! I'd like to order a large pepperoni pizza!" and then they'd pay, give them a last name (although not always) and then they would walk away....usually into the BXtra. There are no lines for a place like that. Not when your order is going to take 10-15 minutes to be finished.

Jeni --- 13 years ago -

You're quite welcome, although it had NOTHING to do with you. I was trying to include a link that kept showing up as an error.

But WOW, sensitive much?

Um... I was staying on topic. What you said made me laugh. Kindly stop talking to me like I'm an idiot. I know how it works and I am telling you EVERY TIME I went to the Mildenhall Bxtra, the guys at Anthony's were doing NOTHING. Burger King and Taco Bell would be busy; Anthony’s would be standing around watching and doing nada. No pizza's in the oven, nothing... Hence why they are out of business...

I am pretty shocked at your attitude for being a MOD. You're a bit full of yourself since you are the one making this post about you. It's not about you. I had a difference of opinion and you jumped.

You all but accused me of being "starwarsguy" because we both have "star" in our name and I agreed with him over the silliness you were spouting in another post... Can't read it as it’s suddenly gone. Wonder who did that... Is this what you do? Is this how you moderate the forum?

Leave me alone.

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Just got back from the gym and my brain's a little scrambled so if what i'm posting offends you, it isn't meant to. I'm just really tired. :)

There would normally not be a long line because people would just walk up and say "Hi! I'd like to order a large pepperoni pizza!" and then they'd pay, give them a last name (although not always) and then they would walk away....usually into the BXtra.

I used to walk to the mailbox from there and check my mail. Gotta say I got a kick out of returning to the pizza spot and them smiling and giving me my pizza without attitude or even having to tell them my order number. Prolly will miss that the most since most other places barely look you in the eyes when they "hand" you your food.

I was trying to include a link that kept showing up as an error.

What was the link?

You all but accused me of being "starwarsguy" because we both have "star" in our name

I gotta admit I thought the same thing...well not really the same person but someone related to him. I'm sure there were others who did too. If you've been on the LU for long then you must know it's not uncommon for that type of thing to happen. Plus, personally I don't think it would have been that big of a deal if you were related. It's not like family members aren't allowed to defend each other. Could give a better understanding of where a person is coming from.

It's not about you. I had a difference of opinion and you jumped.

It might be the way you post, but I sort of thought you were being aggressive too. Honestly I think it's because I'm used to how SSDD expresses himself on here and I don't believe I've read many of your comments unless you had another alias. Rereading your guys' comments I think it was just a misunderstanding and probably some sensitivity on both parts. People gotta stop taking things so personal.

On another note, I found a pizza truck that makes TASTY FRESH PIZZAS! The only problem is they're a touring truck....and i don't know their route! :( They're called "The Mobile Stonebaked Pizza Kitchen" and you can find them on facebook. Anyone seen them around? I only caught them once outside of raf feltwell on a friday but haven't seen them since.

Totally agree here! I will certainly miss the friendly nature of the workers. Lol! The one old dude named "Kenny"...the one that has the tattoos, he made me a banana milkshake one time over at the Baskin Robbins and he was like "Did I make it thick enough for ya!?" With a smirk on his face I replied "Yep, they don't seem to make em like THIS anymore!". Great people there.

No offense to "Starsha" OR Jeni....I'm in a tough spot lately. My wife is deployed and it's rough being a male MilSpouse. There is ZERO support anywhere and it's hard to connect with people cause most all of the other spouses are women and they get sort of cliquey. That leaves me to fend for myself....and I've pretty much been without friends for 7 years due to the Female Spouse oriented nature of the military.

Being ex-Military you'd think I could connect with the hubbies that are currently serving, but in practice it doesn't work that way. They are usually at work most of the time and when they aren't they tend to rather hang out with friends from their shop. Plus I don't feel like talking about the military all day like most of them seem to do.

So, if I come across as cranky at times please take it with a grain of salt....it can be stressful being me.

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I just wanted to add this to cite an example....

Male MilSpouses

Really? So if there were two "John"s you would think they were related?

No offense to "Starsha"

Stop quoting my name. "SSDD" is a screen name. Starsha is not just a screen name. It is my name, like Jeni or Sarah, or insert any normal name here.

Hence why I think it's silly you are assuming I was related to Starwars guy. I mean, that's a screen name. I've told you before, Starsha is my name.

Whatever...

Next topic.

That truck sounds interesting. Is the pizza worth the trouble of hunting them down?

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Stop quoting my name.

Rawr!! Calm down "Starsha". You're new here and my quotes around your "name" aren't meant to offend! I find it somewhat troubling that you somehow know my name!

wifey (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

"The Mobile Stonebaked Pizza Kitchen"

Yes! I've seen them parked up in Brandon. I think they live there. Im pretty sure its the same company, next time I drive by I will double check!

wifey (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I would too :/

O.o (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Really? So if there were two "John"s you would think they were related?

Well if one was posting as JohnA and then a JohnB suddenly was defending JohnA then I might suspect it was another alias for the same person. Especially if JohnB only joined LU at the same time JohnA was arguing some point.

Whatever...

Next topic.

Agreed :)

That truck sounds interesting. Is the pizza worth the trouble of hunting them down?

I only had them once but it was DELISH! The crust was so warm and tasty and you could see all the fresh ingredients on the inside. I hope I don't eat my words, so to speak, but I would definitely hunt them down if I knew where they were.

Yes! I've seen them parked up in Brandon. I think they live there. Im pretty sure its the same company, next time I drive by I will double check!

Details details! hehe Brandon's only 5 min away from me so I would happily head there for some tasty fresh made pizzas!

I find it somewhat troubling that you somehow know my name!

I would too :/

Wait, am I mistaken or didn't you actually post ur name before on here? At least that's how I know it...if it's what I think it is...lol. But I think it's a pretty common first name so not much to worry about I'd hope.

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

Yeah, it was actually my screen name once before. I changed it after those Willow Park pikeys were threatening to kill me. Lol! Remember the one pikey had his screen name set to "James Killer" so in response to that I changed my screen name to "Bulletproof Mod". Then, after I watched Deliverance on Bluray I thought it would be cool to change my screen name to "Paddle Faster I hear Banjos". But, in the spirit of being stationed here I eventually changed it SSDD.....plus I really liked the movie Dream catcher. So that is the evolution of my screen names.

I don't mind if people know my name. It's just the only people that seem to post about my name are kinda negative about it. *He which we do NOT speak of* posted my name all the bloody time!

Dawnmom25 --- 13 years ago -

"Rolf posted my name all the bloody time!"

Shhhhhhhh, don't conjure up (he we do not speak of).
