We just got orders to F. E. Warren and I was just wondering if anyone here had any info about the area/base.

This is the first I've ever heard of it. Wyoming....hmmmm I don't know much about that place. I wish I could help you out, why don't you try logging onto Military.com's forums and asking there? Lots of people from all over on there, you'd be sure to get some sort of info.

Maybe even search the base on Youtube and see what you come up with. Lots of people like to watch videos of old bases and leave comments about the place. Some good ol' detective work! Fun! Good luck! :)

I have friends there. It is a small base with a tiny bx. They told me they go up to Buckley for everything they need, and make a weekend out of it. I can't wait because Buckley is where we are going!

But other than that they LOVE it! If your into the outdoors there are tons of things to do.

I can't tell you anything about the base, but I really enjoyed Cheyenne the couple of times I visited. My friends living there (Cheyenne) talk a lot about cold winters.
Frontier Days are huge and bring in people from all over the world. You can enjoy it without having to worry about booking a room :-)

I was Stationed at F.E Warren for a couple of years. There really is not much to do there. Once the weekend hit no one is on base..LOL. The BX is really small but If I rememeber correctly there is a Wal-mart in town. It does not snow a whole lot but the wind REALLY blows in the winter time. The whole time I was there I think we only had one really bad snow storm where we could not get on base. Frontier days is a very big deal there. It's basically a huge country western style carnival. Hotels from all surrounding counties and even in Colorado are booked months in advance for that event.

If you are looking for a social life....their is not one in Cheyenne. But Fort Collins is about 30-45 mins away and it has just about every eating establishment and club available. Its a huge college town ( CSU is there) so there is always something to do. If that is not good then Denver is about an hour away and they have everything.

F.E Warren is prob not the best place to be stationed, especially if you do not like cold, windy weather but Fort Collins and Denver make it tolerable.

There are worst places to be at by far!

I wish I would have seen this sooner. I love Fe Warren. I was there for 6 years and I am leaving England in 3 months to go back. Wonderful place. Yes it is cold and very windy. If you like Rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days is the best one around. I enjoy going. The commissary is very small but the meat department is the best in Deca. They hand cut everything and will get you whatever you need. THEY are an amazing group of guys. I know the meat manager very well. The BX sucks. You are better shopping off base at the Wal- Mart or Target. They have one mall. If you like the small town life, this place is for you. If you cave the faster pace, fort Collins and Denver are just down the road. :) LOVE IT THERE. Best of luck to you :)

I need to know about renting houses in Cheyenne. It's been...difficult to find anything that's more than a trailer or an apartment.
We're leaving in a few months to head out there too and I really do not want to live on base. And we will not be buying a house (I've got dreams, and Wyoming is not where I want to settle down...just yet).
I think I want to stay in the Cheyenne area and not venture to the Ft. Collins area, just because after being at Lakenheath this long...small town life sounds super appealing.
