My kids are growing out of their cribs/toddler beds (its one that changes between the two) and I don't want to take them back to the States with me so my plan was to sell them before we leave, but I think they've been recalled since we've lived here.

Supposively the reason for the recall is that if the parent installs the side that slides down (to let the parents take the baby out easier)upside down rather than the way the instructions say then it can possibly hurt the kid, then another recall came out saying that the bars the mattress rest on can break causing the baby to slide down and get wedged.

My kids are in the toddler bed so the dangers aren't really there if the two things actually happen...and I've had the cribs for 4 years now with no problems.

If you were in my position what would you do with the cribs? Would you sell them cheap ($20ish) letting the parents know about the recall or would you throw them out?

I'd feel horrible if I gave them to someone and something happened with the crib which hurt or killed their baby.

Throw them out. It aint worth the risk for $20.

I thought it was illegal to sell any recalled crib like that now.

I was accused of being too picky about what I sell (quality & safety) so this thread was to help me prove my points when I told my husband I didn't want to or confirm that I am overprotective so Tonya thanks for making me feel that I'm not over this issue!

I called Target and was told where to find the model number and found that it was actually part of recall (wasn't sure when I posted, just knew there was a chance)...

FYI for anyone that has a recalled item from Target...they said since it has to be returned to the store to get a refund and recalls are indefinite I can just return it when we get back to the States even though it won't be til late 2012.

Good on you for not trying to sell a recalled item!
And yes its illegal to sell them anyway. (not that many people get caught, and I have no clue of there is even any kind of punishment to go with it lol)

Agreed! Definately not worth it.

I think we have the same bed and when I checked it out online it was the right parts. I would sell it and just tell them it was recalled and has the right parts. If you bought it from the furniture store at Feltwell it should have had the right parts with it. Ours did anyways.
