well hello ,does anyone take a uk PAYG cell phone to the USA and use it without any problems.I see that it has to be tri band to work in USA,T-mobile and Virgin seem to offer good rates any help appreciated. 

We take our iPhones on Pay as u go 02 & they work fine.

Please remember that the PAYG charges for using the phones back homne in the states can be upto £1.10 per minute to make and even up to £1.50 (on some plans) to take. I would take your phone as an emergency but divert all calls to voicemail and if people need you, get them to send a text which is free to rec. Then pop into a local Wal Mart or similar and pick up a cheap PAYG there, (The Virgin Range or boost both offer decent calling rates back to the UK). It will pay for itself after about 20 minutes worth of calls !!
