Has anyone participated in any reputable DNA ancestry tests for your surname or just to get background on your lineage/ancestors? I know National Geographic is conducting the genographic project. In the UK there are several sites that offer different kinds of DNA searches. They vary in cost depending on what you are looking for. Can anyone can recommend an ancestry DNA place to me or tried it? Was it worth the money to research your ancestors or heritage?

I would be interested in this too, if anyone has any info.

I will have to ask my sister because she done this. I know she sent it Stateside.

My husband and I have been researching his family so maybe we could do this to help us out.

From what I read it won't really tell you anything about your ancestors, not like what you could find through ancestry.com and other genalogy sites. It looks like it can just tell you about your ethic background. I may have read wrong though.

My husbands family comes from Poland or Russia, at the time it switched back and forth so we are at loss as to where to find more info for his great great grandfather and mother.
