It seems since it was pointed out that you can't advertise out here, everyone seems to have something to list now. 

Yea, still trying to work on how to do this and where to draw the line. Definitely if even the posting links thing is abused then ALL of that will have to be deleted and iced. I don't get why people just don't post on LYS. Especially since (as someone pointed out earlier) there's probably only 10 of us on here regularly. Maybe we can start an "announcements" thread where people can post upcoming events there.

I think a lot of people have given up trying to buy or sell over there. It's just become bogged down with auction places, car rental ads etc...

The whole reason the AF Family Portal site didn't get more grief when shutting down was because we had somewhere else to list our stuff as we PCSd, but it's become a total mess for those of us wanting to use it like a yard sale.
I think the bases should allow us to post ads in the post office (we had that in another overseas place) so we can move our unwanted things a little easier. Just my opinion. 

I agree. LYS has gotten filled with a bunch of nonsense. When I first started advertising my "PC Repair Guy" stuff back in August of 2008 LYS was more about the local yard sale stuff, local self employed people like I was. Business was great for awhile (I may have repaired someone on here's computer!) but then everybody started advertising the same type of stuff and all the "ICE Station" ads, and car rental places etc..etc.. started cropping up.

It's just a giant spam site now with endless listings for baby clothes and beat up ugly furniture. LU is pretty dead these days too. 

You can post upcoming events on here and add them to the calendar.

i must of miss the boat i just got a really nice mini laptop like new for $80 bucks and a sat nav for $30 bucks at least i like a bargin? it called more choice guess but you are right if you don't like alot of choices 

Weren't you just talking about needing help in another thread? I don't think a laptop or sat nav is a need.... frivolous spending indeed.
