i am 27 years old and i am a Brit i love americans and more so american food and such like love horror films and partying random yes i know how can i get on base thanking you

Kara --- 13 years ago -

Why do you want to get on base?

joejoe --- 13 years ago -

to meet people and maybe have a few drinks in the club grab somthing to eat

Dawnmom25 --- 13 years ago -

Ummmm, judging by your poor grammar, I doubt you are British. You type with an accent and have broken English. RED FLAGGING YOUR POST! I'm sure no one on this board would be so ignorant as to help you get on base.

joejoe --- 13 years ago -

how rude i was just asking a question, why would you falsly flag my subject for no reason and be very rude, i am english and you have no right to speak to me like that, make peace not war, and dont be angry for no reason !

Dawnmom25 --- 13 years ago -

I apologize if I used inappropriate flagging. I am not sure of flagging procidure so I should have looked it up first. As for the rest, I stand by my opinion. It is also interesting to me that you joined this group yesterday and your first post is asking for base access.

AFCartoonist --- 13 years ago -

JoeJoe, you have to understand in our current state of hightened security your request does raise a few concerns right away. As the person in charge of base tours at RAF Mildenhall, I have to say I would be hesitant to accomodate this request even if I could just due to the nature of how it came about. No offense is meant if you are indeed a British citizen simply showing an interest in the base, but what you're asking simply isn't possible unless you have a friend who works out here.

joejoe --- 13 years ago -

i fully understand ! i am a white british citezen and was born and breed in the east end of london, i have an interest in american food and hot sauce and twinkies those types of things, i understand i may have come across abit blunt, it dosent matter anyway thanks for replying. i shall get one of my american friends to show me around at some point if he is alowed, thanks joe

Joe, if that's what you're interested in, have you ever heard of reddit's Snack Exchange? Check out this link: Snack Exchange
You can have Americans mail you snacks from the States in exchange for snacks from here. Just an idea that requires far less effort than trying to access an overseas military base.

Oh Lord....not this again. ;)

(Not to start a war about Americans and twinkies....but the worlds largest man is British. His name is Paul Mason)

When I was still stationed there I had a British guy that wanted to go on base with me once....I was a little hesitant so I told him I wanted to think about it first. We weren't really close friends or anything, he was just some British guy that was pleasant to talk to and had some requests for "American" things he missed ever since he left the USA (he took his family to Nevada on holiday)

So, I went ahead and picked him up a few items and he paid me exactly what I paid for them...no profit was made on my part. So, after that I had time to think about his request and decided to take him on base (he was prior British Army)......until he decided to invite his kids too!

That was too much for me so I declined and severed all ties to him. It just sort of freaked me out.

I'm refraining...
its...so...difficult...

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I wanted to add....ever since coming back to the USA I am shocked to see how much "England" has followed us home!

British toilets are becoming common here...as are the heated towel racks. Last night I saw a commercial for "Tankless Water Heaters" for the shower! When we left the states back in 2008 I don't EVER recall (my wife backs me up on this) seeing Finish dish washing detergent...yet it is all over the place now.

I also saw a commercial for "Squishy Baff" which is the American equivalent to the British "Gelli Baff". Alot of the British stuff is being marketed here now. Part of me is used to it (having lived there for 4 years) but the other part of me wishes it would all go away....to a point. I draw the line at "Squishy Baff".....that is probably one of the most disgusting ideas for kids EVER.

Rant over. Back to topic.

I agree with AFC....if you just want snack foods from the states...order some. I'd be glad to send you some snack foods....in exchange for some Jaffa Cakes.

joejoe --- 13 years ago -

hey ssdd i would send you jaffa cakes, haha for the record i have been on the base before a bunch of times, and just enjoyed some of the food!its all good he will be back soon from the states and i look forward to coming on base to get my grub on ! as for fat people look at this only in america article haha http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1257850/Super-sized-mother-determined-worlds-fattest-woman-years.html

JJ, if you are from East London. How are you a Chelsea fan???

Yes, I am American and a WHU supporter.

I happen to be married to a Brit who is from E. London. He parents ironically now live down the street from the AF base.

I can't get on base, so I highly doubt you will.

Kara --- 13 years ago -

My son, Luke's middle name is Upton.

joejoe --- 13 years ago -

lamo you are all smart wink wink have you heard of salad !

ShizzleShizzleDizzleDizzle (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I've heard of salad....do I get a cookie now? ;)

Kara --- 13 years ago -

JJ, watch it. I can delete you. :)

i feel sorry for you because i am on base all the time its good !

Then why are you asking to get on???

American Football is popular in the UK, I know this for a fact. My Chicago Bears even played in London last year and other NFL teams.

you should stick to american football where they only use there hands!

American Football does use their feet when needed. Ever hear of a Punt? Football, also is football because the players need to move using their feet, right?

The two sports are not comparable. Maybe your Football should have been called kickball?

I am not a plastic supporter. What plastic supporter would name their child after Upton Park??? I have been to Upton Park for a game, I have sat amongst the true fans. My father-in-law is a season ticket holder. My husband bleeds claret and blue. I have also traveled hundreds of miles to watch WHU play a friendly in the States.

A lot of you (Brits) wear NY Yankees hats because Becks has been photographed wearing them. Talk about Plastic!

Here is my proof:
Removed by me.
