The grandparents bought an XBox live membership as a pressie for our birthday boy. I now have to pick up the adapter for the 360. Does anyone know if the BX carries them?

JS7799 --- 13 years ago -

Which adapter are you talking about?

Jeni --- 13 years ago -

um... the wireless (?) I'm clueless, just know he needs something unless he's hooked up to the router-- which he won't be.

Jeni --- 13 years ago -

I also know that the newer xbox doesn't need it, so it may be hard to find (like at the BX where they felt the need to expand the store so that they could reduce the stock).

Jeni, if you can't find one let me know I have one I was going to put for sale that belonged to my son before his old xbox got the RRoD.

I *think* I seen them at the BX the last time I was there....I'm pretty sure I did, they updated the adapter so that it has two antennas on the newer one.

Mine is the old style.

At any rate be aware that certain things can't be downloaded via XBOX Live while over here....(US Membership). For instance, I cannot download movies, tv shows, complete XBOX games.

I've only had success at downloading demos, arcade games and add-ons for my disc-based games. Also, wifi delivers the worst performance for on-line gaming....and it's even worse here. Very laggy.

Thanks for that, I was wondering. The grandparent got very clever and ordered it through Amazon UK and had it sent to our house. Everyone else was saying that it was a waste since he ended up paying more, but maybe not :-)

Maybe the wifi will work ok for him. We just moved into a house where the internet is incredible (MUCH better than the dial-up speed we've had for the last 5 years).
I rented a movie on Apple tv and it took 20 SECONDS to download, so he should have good play time-- unless you're saying the wifi is sluggish regardless...

I like to blame my piss-poor video games skills on the internet lag.

Hopefully its better in Georgia!! LOL! Only few more weeks till Gears of War 3. Hope they get it in at the BX.

I tried playing COD:MW2 with my cousin last weekend. We were doing the mission where he is on the ground and I'm in the AC-130 providing support. Death from above.

The internet on my end was so choppy it really ruined the experience for me. We might as well have dial up. He is running cable and his speeds are incredible.

@ Tonya C - We had 10MBPS when we were stationed at Moody AFB back in 2008. I'd imagine that is the "slow package" by now. Lol. We went through "Bellsouth" then they got bought out by AT&T. We loved them, we had our cell phones/telephone/DSL through them. Roll over minutes rule!

@ AFC - Lol! That's how I am when I attempt to play Madden. I suck at sports games. I guess that is why I don't buy them. Give me Survival Horror, FPS, anything but sports and I'm good.

@ Jeni - That should be fine! I had an English live account on my XBOX I just didn't use it much because my American account already had lots of achievements and the UK account seemed "behind" when it came to new stuff being released. That was awhile ago though...I'm sure it's gotten better by now.

As for the wifi, I actually have my Halo Reach 360 plugged directly into my router. If I ran it using it's built in wifi the experience would be even choppier. I certainly can't wait till we get some good internet.
