I am wondering if any of you wonderful people on here have had to order car tyres from the States or here in England? Is it cheaper to buy them in dollers, pay the shipping and then take them to a garage to be fitted and balanced or pay for them in pounds which includes all the service?
where have you got your tyres from? We have a chevy equinox.
Thank you for helping.

I got mine from Auto Fast Fit here in Mildenhall. I had to get one in a hurry because the Tire in my Wifes SUV got a flat and I didn want her and my child riding on the spare. They were actually cheaper than on base (but who isnt). I called one day, he got the tire in the next and put it on. The price I paid was pretty reasonble when you think about Buying online, Shipping Cost, and waiting for the tire to get here.

Thanks guys, people here in the UK are having problems with the tyre size and one guy laughed at me when i told him the size..!! I have finally found some bridgestone tyres in Bury St Edmunds, will have to change the tyre slightly but not too much and they are a good tyre, we still have the original ones and the car is 6 years old. I have only been givena month on one of my tyres so I dont think the wait for the states will cut it.
Thankyou all again.

I bought mine from Tirerack.com. Shipping was around $50. it was for an American car. had them mounted at Hobby Shop.

I was wondering this same thing today. When you say you had them mounted at the hobby shop, did u pay them to do it or did you do it urself? I don't think I trust myself with being able to balance and rotate them alone. Also, how much did that cost? Thanks! :)

i checked out tirerack and for the same tires that are are there now was $588, said it didnt ship to APO so shipping to the father in law was $58, then for him to ship them here...??.....then for a garage to fit, balance, valves im guessing it will be about the same in pounds or very close.

Tirerack DOES ship APO. Here is a thread where a Military member talks about it (and a Tire Rack employee confirms it).

O.o, iirc I thought the Hobby Shop here on RAFL charged $10 to mount/balance a tire. I can't remember though. I know it was a good price.
