Hey guys. I was wondering how I would find out about any job openings the the Lakenheath base hospital. I'm working towards my BS degree right now and applying to a med school once my hubs and I get back to the states. The school I want to apply to wants previous experience working at a hospital though. It's a catch 22 for me. I'm not sure how to get hired without hospital experience, and can't get the experience without getting hired. Anyone have any suggestions?
I was going to go up to the hospital, but I wasn't even sure who I would take to there. I can't find anything on USA jobs for the hospital either.

Thanks, at this point anything helps.

You can get experience by volunteering with the hospital, which they are always looking for. All you have to do is go to the Red Cross class that is done on Lakenheath (they have different dates for this), and this will give you experience to add to your resume. As far as getting a job with the hospital, if there are any, they would be located on USAjobs.gov(make sure you click on the international search). There is also another site to locate the jobs, but I can not remember it, but I am sure Airmen & Family Readiness can tell you which site to go to.

www.usajobs.opm.gov/ This is the website where you would apply for federal jobs (GS) and they have listing from time to time, but sometimes you have to patient. THere are also several contract companies that are hiring, Sterling Medical Corp.(www.sterlingmedcorp.com) and Luke and Assoc (www.lukeassoc.com). They offer some of the the contract jobs at the hospital. Becoming a red cross volunteer has its benefits, once you start volunteering you hear of jobs that are comin open before they are posted and like someone else said it really is a great way of adding experince to a resume.

I actually just went in today and signed up to be a Red Cross volunteer so I'm excited about that. The man I talked to at the Red Cross said they general hire the volunteers first because they're already trained so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you for the info on Sterling and Luke. I'll look into both of those.
