Moving there! Can anyone give me some info about it, pretty please! I went to their Bookoo and that was a joke. 

It's pretty awesome. People we met there were very friendly and the commissary is huge! There are at least 3 Walmarts in a 30min radius and a shopping center with Kohls, Target, Lowest etc super close by. Tulsa is 90 minutes away and Dallas, TX is 3 hours. If you want the good beer, drive to Texas!

Base housing: a lot of new nice houses were going up when we left. Two pets per house. But there are nice places off base within a few minutes to base. The nicest places were Moore/ Edmund area or Choctaw heading to Shawnee.(it'll make sense when u get there).

OK is known for Tornadoes and you will hear the alarms being tested every week. Happens the same time each week. So if you hear one out of rotation (excuse the pun) then head for cover. A room with no windows -closets or bathrooms centered in the house work. A lot of houses come with tornado shelters as well. Don't let this scare you. OK is a great place...miss it!

Craigslist was the main site out there for selling. Maybe you could start people on Bookoo out there.;)

Gas was cheaper off base at the time, not sure about now.

Oh! Take Route 66 and go to Pop's! There is a big soda bottle out front to help you find it. But they have great food and the best sodas and shakes!

haha Thank you! Kinda makes me excited. I've already been looking at real estate since we leave in June and did notice what I thought to be the shelters since it was a piece of metal that slide over a hole in the ground. lol

Would you happen to know about good school. My kids are young but are going to be old enough to attend there in a few years. 

Oh also, what's the best cell phone provider there? 

I've heard Moore is good. Base is good. The school systems out there aren't the best. We had a private picked out or were going to home school had we stayed.

Sprint was great for cell phone service. Would use them again.

Envious. I want to be back at Tinker so bad (I'm former AWACS aircrew) but my current job has only a civilian position there. I've actually gone on vacation from Texas there. 

I miss the AWACS!! When my husband or I spot one here we get super excited!! We miss it there too! 

I am from Oklahoma any my mom is a Civilian worker on Tinker and we would love to go back. I have a friend from high school who is still stationed at tinker and he loves it. Moore is a good area but so is Choctaw, Edmond, and Mustang/Yukon area. They have been doing alot of expanding right around the base in the Midwest City Delcity area so there is a ton of stuff to do right around base. 

That's amazing. The weather's good and how's the crime? I have 2 kids so I'd love a place that is good for kids growing up, decent schools, etc.
