My sister is coming from the states with her baby girl who is under two and she was thinking about having her on her lap. Has anyone done this between the US and UK? If so who did you go through?

Honestly, it was worth the extra ticket. We flew with an infant and it would have been miserable if we hadn't bought the ticket. Ive done the lap baby thing before...

But as far as tickets go...Has she tried Continental?

I agree...we flew back to the states with 2 18 month olds on our laps and it was miserable. We flew on American from London to Raleigh. Luckily we had some awesome flight attendants on the way back to LHR that asked some passengers to shift around so we could have all 5 seats in the center of the plane for our twins.

Tickets are expensive, but totally worth it when it comes to the little ones.

I agree....lap babies are miserable unless its a somewhat short flight. 3 hours or less. I have always paid for extra tickets to have the extra room and the time I didn't an super nice flight attendant asked people to move because the flight wasn't sold out.

Thanks everyone. She got one with American. It was get the lap baby ticket or the baby stays home. They just payed to send her older girl to Italy so they are trying to save money. They gave the baby a seat next to her but if it is a full flight then they will give it away and she will go on her lap. So I hope its not full.

Understand the money issue. Hope all works well for your sister! Walking around helped keep my infant calm while in flight (when allowed of course!)

Tell your sister to ask at the check in counter if the flight isn't full would they please move her to a seat that has an empty one next to it. Also right when she boards the plane ask a flight attendant the same thing and usually they'll do it.
