Who is your car insurance with?

Catherine --- 14 years ago -

Car and renter's insurance thru USAA. They even have a branch in London so if you need any paperwork or anything like that, they have you covered. I have yet to have a single problem with them!

wifey (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

I agree with Catherine, we have renters and car with USAA and have no problems and its a great price. We have both our cars with them.

Jenh --- 14 years ago -

Renters and both cars with USAA, been with them for YEARS!!! Love 'em!

WitnessProtectionProgram --- 14 years ago -

I believe overseas, USAA is the only American insurance that will cover you from what I understand. At least it was that way for Germany. Does anyone else have car insurance from the US that is not USAA?

Amy --- 14 years ago -

USAA for all insurance renters, and cars.

Lolly --- 14 years ago -

USAA all the way!!! they are great.

lalaro --- 14 years ago -

Geiko does to. But usaa has always worked great for us.

Jeni --- 14 years ago -

USAA and they've been brilliant.

Steph --- 14 years ago -

USAA and would not go with anyone else! They are AWESOME!

Mitch01 --- 14 years ago -

USAA. Have been with them for well over 10 years.

aimee --- 14 years ago -

USAA too for everything and they are absolutely awesome. wish we'd have moved to them long before! they've taken such great care of us :)

Matt --- 14 years ago -

USAA doesnt cover windshields in the UK just a heads up.. I found out the hard way when I went to make a claim thinking I would get a new free one and they said no i have to pay a deductible. I told them last time I didnt and they said oh it isnt covered in the UK. I informed them that would of been nice to know and the Brit on the phone said "Well do you expect us to inform you of all the changes when you move here?" Uhhh Yeah I do. Just a heads up as windshileds seem to get wrecked here alot.

That's crazy, but thanks!

USAA here too. I shopped around and unfortunately they were really the only ones reasonably priced.

I say unfortunately because I know that if I don't like what they're offering I don't have any choice but to stick with them because I can't afford the other companies.

USAA I use them in England and in the states. They are good.

Steph --- 14 years ago -

USAA does cover windshilds! I know this cause I have had to have mine replaced, and was greatful that it got replaced. Now, we did have to pay the shipping cost from the states, cause it was on my American spec car and they had to order it from the States and have it shiped here. But other than that, we did not pay a thing.

Also, we have full coverage on my American Spec car. I know with the majority of insurances, if you do not have full coverage, they do not cover windshilds.

But yeah, it got replaced. And what was SO awsome, was it got done in our drive way! We did not have to take it anywere!! I have never seen anyone come to your house to replace a windshild, but it was a very nice service!

So how much did you pay for shipping? Why would YOU even have to pay for shipping? IF you get in a wreck are you expected to pay for shipping for all the body parts?
Let me clarify I paid my deductible for the windshield($500)here. When I lived in the states I just called USAA and the next day I had a new windshield in my car and all I had to do was sign a piece of paper and it wasnt considered a claim.

My husband rear-ended someone in my American Spec car and the place USAA sent us was very nice, however we had to cover costs of the shipping for parts, which were double the cost for the acutal repair, thankfully we have family that works for Ford and they could send the parts for mere dollars; i.e.: new headlight at repair place shipping cost $150 and family cost $80...side light at US shipping cost $100, at family cost $8.00... you get the point... if is it "completely covered" then no shipping should be paid, especially with our high deductibles...I have USAA and LOVE them, however I needed a new windshield for my car and although "glass" was covered in my insurance, the deductible was $1000. I have a UK spec one in there and it was 145GBP, the American one that would have had to have been shipped in was 600GBP (shipping out of pocket mind you, because the coverage covered replacing the glass not the shipping amount....) I dont think I can cover that shipping amount each time I might need a new windshield.... BUT for everything else, renters, personal property, pets and car insurances, I love USAA!!

USAA since 1993 and three countries...

Matt --- 14 years ago -

Yeah paying for shipping for parts?? Whats the point of insurance? Did you have full coverage? It should be I get in an accident I call USAA and they take care of everything

Steph --- 14 years ago -

We pay for shipping of parts cause we are over seas and are driving a American Spec car. If the parts could be located in England, then we would not have to pay for shipping. We were told this BEFORE we brought our car here. The point of insurance is so if you get into a car wreck they pay for replacement and to fix the car.

I am not saying I like paying the shipping, but it is one of the deals that comes with being stationed over seas.

BTW we only paid $100 for shipping the windshild. Was not that big of a deal to me. Labor and the windshild were WAY more than that!

I refused to pay the repair shop what they wanted for parts... they wanted a total of $2000 for parts plus $600 for shipping and about $1400 for labor when in reality I can get them from the states at cost for $1000, including shipping!! the damage is barely noticeable on my car so I have yet to see fit to replace anything, everything works fine including the headlight (it was just the case that was cracked in one spot and scratched up). We weren't told anything about paying for shipping before moving here. We were in fact told that we wouldn't have any problems getting parts for my car seeing it is a Ford Focus (that coming direct from the dealer), however, UK and US specs are very different once you get to looking at them.... I don't think we should have to pay for shipping at all with the amount of deductible we have to pay... Back in the states we would have never had to pay for the shipping of parts that were made in another country, what makes this different?

Matt --- 14 years ago -

If Im in the US and driving a Honda and they need to get the part from Japan they dont make you pay to ship it. I was stationed overseas when my Heep got hit and never paid for shipping. They had to ship a whole axle in. Shipping alone was $2500 for everything and it took 6 months to fix.
I paid $19,000 for the Heep new and the final total was $27,000 to fix(Other insurance ended up paying for most of it after USAA was going to total it 2 months and $15k into it but my lawyer(friend) was threatening to sue them if they didnt)..
If I get hit I drop off the car I pay my deductible Get a loaner and call me when its done. The paying for parts is BS if Im paying full coverage. Whats the point? If its US Spec who cares. THATS WHY IM USING USAA NOT UKAA. I am not a fan boy of USAA they have screwed me out of tens of thousands of dollars and when they went back to "review the tapes" (they record everything)they didnt have the 4 hour long conversations I had with them setting up an Acct. But they did any other time something was my fault. They wouldnt give me homeowners insurance in Delaware because of Hurricanes? Im going to call the tomorrow and find out what "full coverage" actually means.
Like I said I wasnt told of any changes when I moved from a PACAF base to here until I called them to file a claim and the guy said "you expect us to tell you all the changes when you move?" Uh YEAH I do. My insurance went up 20% yet I lost coverage on items. I got lucky because my UK windshield has a DOT stamp making it US legal.
