Has anyone in Lords Walk housing discovered termites? We just did, and they are coming from the vents in the house. Awaiting housings reply. Anyone else? Suggestions?

Are you sure they are not Ants ,don't think there are termites in UK get ant powder or spray should fix it it's the sandy soil around here .

Good luck. We had those last year and housing told us there was nothing we could do and that England does not have termites or any animals or bugs that carry diseases. (bull sh*t) Anyways we used ant spray and the trap things you put on the ground. Just make sure it is where the kids (if you have any) can't get at it. Good luck though. Just my expierence here.

Pour boiling water on outside nests and there are small plug-in electric insect and mouse zappers that do no harm to humans or cats &dogs that are fantastic ,you dont even know they are there . Had been plagued by ants for 25 years until I found these not an ant in the house for 5 years now !! you can get them from B&Q or Homebase.

Anyplace that has people constantly moving in and out will get non native bugs from stuff being moved.
My last base they redid the kitchens and the cabinets had termites in them from the company. They fumigated all the houses that were affected and had someone inspect all the furniture in the house to see if they got to them.

if its ant,s u do get flying ants, use talc powder, thats always good.

when we first moved into lords walk i thought we had temites but it turned out that it was just ants. The ants here aren't just like ants in the states. Some of them have wings. I believe they protect the queen or something. Anyway we treated for ants and got some ant traps and have seen them since.

The ants over here are rarely more than a hygiene nuisance - Even if nipped by 1 it's hardly a problem. The males do swarm occasionally - so yes, they fly but the wings fall off when they land. There are plenty of ant powders and sprays - a good 1 if you can find it is called Dethlac - it's a lacquer which stinks until it's dry but all crawling beasties won't cross it and survive - spray outside around doors and windows. Yeah, a friend has the electronic gizmo's and they work for her!

I would move but if thats not an option boiling water on there nest like Sue said or lighter fluid and a flame always works well if its outside and not up against your house.
