Just moved here..r there any good restaurants to go to that aren't too far from the bases?

Try, Giraffe in Bury. That is good. Also, Ask and Frank & Benny's. All of them are right there at the theatre in Bury! GOOD food at Giraffe!! LOVE IT!! A lot of the pubs have some good food. If you want really good food try finding the pubs that have home cooked food. Yes it limits what is available on the menu but the food it YUMMY!!!

yeap Prezzo is really good....pub lunches generally good and cheap....like the Hungry Horse pub in Mildenhall - indian restaurant in Mildenhall.....Pizza Express in Newmarket

We are the have NOTs of USAFE.. Tell you what, search Ryan air for a flight to Frankfurt Hahn, get a rental car and visit Ramstein. They have alot of great places to eat onbase in US dollars and great places off base normal priced and its great real food. Everything in this area is just "food" nothing amazing.

But if you dont care about your weight theres alot of fast food on base nothing healthy whatsoever... 

there are plenty of good restaurants here...

in Cambridge you have La Tasca, Teri-Aki, Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge, La Mimosa, and many many others.

You have to go out and explore or use good old Google! 

Wow... can't believe no one mentioned Nando's in Cambridge. There are two locations in Cambridge. I love it, as do my kids. I agree with WhirlyBird too, Teri-Aki is AWESOME!! It's a bit busy on the weekends at dinner time, and a bit pricy but well worth it! You can eat outside or in. I like outside, because it's not as crowded. Good luck, and venture out! Try new foods, because there is a wide variety here. But your sure to miss Mexican if you like it. I've yet to find good Mexican. 

En Thai Sing in mildenhall is so yummy. I also like Strata in Bury.

Ickworth House outside of Bury is yummy. 

ShiKi in Norwich is so much better than Cambridge and such better service. Pretty much around the same Price as Teri- Aki. I was a big Teri- Aki fan until my husband and I tried ShiKi this past weekend. I can't say enough how good it was. 

Nandos in Cambridge (I'm praying for Nandos to open up more places in America), Prezzo in Newmarket, Franky & Benny's in Bury.

There's an Italian restaurant opening up in Mildenhall that I am desperate to try out too :D I hope it hurries up! 

Webb's is a great sandwich joint with to die for homemade bread in Mildenhall village and Peach Bower has great Chinese in Brandon and really nice wait staff. All National Trust sites with cafés have local foods from honey to Lamb to offer. 

My wife & I like the Golden Dragon in Mildenhall. We also have tried the Pizza Hut in Gt. Yarmouth and just recently the Pizza Hut in Bedford and both were good. Best Pizza Hut ever! I still miss "Sonnies Pulled Pork" in Valdosta Georgia....(and Me Maws)

Wanted to add that I hear great things about Angels Cafe in Mildenhall...and they take dollars too. 

Oops....meant to say "Dragon House". I *think* there is a chinese place called the "Golden Egg" near RAFL. Haven't tried it though. I guess I mixed the two together. :)

There are lots of good restraunts around. If you venture OFF base (CRAZY thought I know!!!!) Then you will find some great ones. There is great Chinese and Indian in Brandon itself. 

Thats not really Negative. its my opinion. Germany is much better, in many ways. So i gave advice to get some GOOD food.... 

and its a negative opinion, they asked for good local restaurants if you don't know any keep out of it 

Here in the UK, one of your main points was to go to Ramstein base and eat on-base because it's better. Yes, you mentioned eating off-base as well, but your emphasis was to eat on-base. Someone was asking where to eat HERE. You saying to get on a plane and go to Ramstein was counter-productive for this post. 

Ohh, yes, James is right about the cafe in Mildenhall town. I'm a huge "builders cafe" eater, always have been and always will be, and their food is lovely :D 

Hubs and I ate at the Worlington House and it was AWESOME. I am a pretty picky eater so we don't tend to eat off base. But this was soooo good, little spendy but well worth it! 

Rumbles has the BEST fish and chips around. I haven't tried the one in Mildenhall that JUST opened, but I eat the one in Exining.

I live out by Newmarket so we eat in Cambridge a lot.

Our fav places are The Vault, it has the best Ostrich Burger around. Seriously have all my friends hooked!

The Eagle Pub- it has pictures from the USAF guys that would come in during WWII to eat after working all day, and the food is amazing.

Don Pasquale- has the best pizza (and I that Pizza Express was amazing..) and tirimisu. And they have large portions of wine ;)

For Chinese I have to stick with my Dragon house in Mildenhall.

For Thai, we go to BKK in Ely, it blows en-thai-sing out of the water, seriously after going to BKK and then en-thai-sing we wanted to walk out like it was a bad movie.

Oh and everyone has to eat at Webbs in Mildenahll, its AMAZING! They are very friendly and make a killer sandwich.

For those that don't eat off base.. go to the commissary and get a sub there! Yummy! 

Oh Wong's in Mildenhall is good too. I know some have said the service is bad but we haven't had any troubles! I also love Charlie's in Lakenheath. 

Golden egg isn't as good as Dragon House. It's a pound cheaper but DH seems to prepare the food a little bit more carefully.
