Does any one have a good idea of costs to ship a dog back to the states? We'd love to get a dog, but I want to make sure I have enough set aside first. We don't want a huge dog, nothing bigger than a beagle.

Honestly it can range from a few hundred dollars to a thousand dollars. It is far cheaper to add your animal onto the back of your ticket, but it's more difficult and you run the chance of being denied at the airport. (Not ideal for individuals leaving on the day of final outing, but ideal for someone who is leaving some time before their spouse.) It's more expensive to use a courrier service, but you do less work and you rest easy knowing your pet will board the plane. My spouse and I are using a company to send our animals (2 cats, 1dog) and will be spending 1300 pounds to get them to the east coast. The price may seem steep but we knew of the costs and began saving long before getting an assignment. We are also shopping a large breed dog.

So....... I'd say between a couple hundred to a grand. Hope this helps!

I have heard up to 4 grand as the highest for 2 dogs

Pretty much what Fresh said - It can be between a few hundred and a few thousand. It really depends on how you're shipping them and, more importantly, the size/weight of the dog.

My two bigs dogs are going to cost us about $3,300 in total to ship back - This is with Jets4Pets and is the cheapest quote we've received, the highest being $6,000 in total for two dogs.

Had they been smaller dogs it would only be costing us around $300. Such is life! We're happy to pay the extra three grand simply because we cannot bear to part with our mutts and we knew the costs of shipping them long before we rescued them from shelters.
