Me and my husband are thinking about moving back onto Lakenheath base, but we're kind of clueless about what to do here and who to speak to - Just housing? What's the likelihood that we'll be able to get a place before our lease ends up here at the end of July? I've heard the waiting list for housing can be terribly long.. We've got two dogs & are expecting our first kid in October, we're leaving England next April. We're not fussed about where we live on-base, we just don't want to deal with the hassle of living off base right now. Any info/advice anyone can give would be great. 

lol we have been here for 2 yrs... still on the list for a 2 bedroom, made it to #13 this month...the only reason we are waiting is because the house we have is literally falling apart. I would say it is worth it, but if you could hang out just that little bit longer before you PCS that would be the best to do....but that's just my opinion :-) 

You confused me a bit - Are you on-base already and wanting to move to a different house on-base? 

nope we live off base on the economy. we have been here 2 yrs and are still waiting. 

You might not be able to move on since you have less than 1 year? Anyone know the rate for a DITY? My last base was $.95 a pound. i made $2000 an hour moving 

WOW!! that would make my day making that here if we move.... however, i am not so sure I want to do a DITY on my own with a 6yr old....money would be great though!!! 

put feltwell on your list and you'll probbaly get it fast.....

Go talk to housing and see... Usually they want you to have a year left though. If you wanted Liberty Village (new housing on lakenheath) you'd have a long wait, if you didn't mind other housing then you could get in faster. 

We got Feltwell right away. All we did was call, ask for a 2bd on feltwell and they said come get the keys and go for a look. Feltwell has alot of empty houses 

I don't think they'll move you with less than a year left, but you can always call to check. The wait all depends on what areas you put on your list. Lord's Walk is half empty because people would rather wait for Liberty Village.
