Time for some positive chatting! Where are you going this summer vacation? Any where you have already been that you would recommend? Tips? Summer is almost here yay!!!

Amy --- 15 years ago -

Dorset is amazing :) And the Isle Of White.

WitnessProtectionProgram --- 15 years ago -

We are headed back to the states. I love going back there for some sun and heat! Its only for 2 weeks. I can't wait to take a trip to Scotland or Ireland during a long weekend!

indigo --- 15 years ago -

I would like to go to Wales on a four day weekend. We are doing Benelux this summer though..yay!

Cherry --- 15 years ago -

The kids and I are catching a hop to Fairchild while the hubs is TDY. I usually end up staying for a month or so. It'll be so hot there! I can't wait. Then Mom and Dad come here for a couple weeks, then it's back to the states for the rest of the summer. I love me some summer, I do!

Mrs. Amy --- 15 years ago -

Hey we are catching a hop to Fairchild as well!

Amy --- 15 years ago -

Bath is also very awesome and you can stay at Fairford base over by stonehendge for only $32 a night and gas up in dollars :)

AolGirl --- 15 years ago -

We are planning on taking a hop to Fairchild this fall to spend Thanksgiving with family this year, let us know how it goes! I am on the lookout for cheap tickets to Rome this summer, any suggestions?

wifey (Mod) --- 15 years ago -

We are wanting to go to Spain....any tips? We are also heading back to Ca for a month or so.

Shannon --- 15 years ago -

We are wanting to go to Spain....any tips? DONT USE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARDS AT ATMS..... I guess Spain is one of the leading countries for identity theft. At least that is what my bank told me when I had $1000 internet card charges I didnt make after visiting Barcelona.

wifey (Mod) --- 15 years ago -

Oh okay!!!! Wow. Where abouts in Spain did you go?

lonely --- 15 years ago -

I would recommend Torquay, Devon. It's South West of England and it's beautiful down there! In the summer by the beach, In the local pub having a drink watching the waves. I miss it!! lol That's where I am from. It's touristic town loads of things to do. I've known a few people go down there and love it. It's about a 5 hour drive. It's got everything you need! =D

Sarah --- 15 years ago -

We are going to Italy in the beginning of the summer to celebrate some new things that have happened in our lives! Hopefully, this will be the first of many out of the country trips.

Shari --- 15 years ago -

We are renting holiday cottages for 1 week at each of 3 locations: Yorkshire Dales NP, North Wales, South Wales. Last year we took a week and went to Holmfirth (BBC show Last of the Summer Wine), the Lake District, across Hadrian's Wall, to York, through Boston and back home. As well as 3-day weekends to Plymouth, Bath, and Tintagel; RAF Croughton to explore the Cotswolds (Stow-on-the-Wold, Upper and Lower Slaughter, etc); Nottingham and Sherwood Forest; Dover... There are so many places worth visiting!

Sarah --- 15 years ago -

Shari, I have also been to majority of those places and have to say they are all worth making a trip to see!

Matt --- 15 years ago -

Anyone use the UK travel agencies? I was checking out ITT and nothing seemed like a good deal. Even the day trips they offered I have done on my own for half the price.

Elizabeth --- 15 years ago -

We use ITT for day trips only. I really don't like being on their schedule, but some of the day trips cost close to what you would pay in gas and entrance fee's into the place that you are visiting. For trips with an over night stay, definitely build your own package, you'll see that you can save so much or have a longer stay for what it would've cost through ITT.

AolGirl --- 15 years ago -

Shari - What website did you book your cottages through? Also exactly where can you go without a passport? We want to travel while we are waiting for my husband's to get here. :)

Shari --- 15 years ago -

aolgirl, I used HolidayLettings - there are cheaper places, but it was easy to work with. We haven't bothered with tourist passports; there is plenty to do on island.

Lolly --- 15 years ago -

If you look on www.travelzoo.co.uk they do some cheap weekend trips....we did a couple and had a great time. Also Ramada Inns do a good deal if you and hubby can get away - 3 nights for 99 pounds with breakfast and one evening meal anywhere in the UK....

Just got back from 4days in Alicante Spain!!! AMAZING! The bluest water, soft sand, amazing people..it is a low key destination. We rented a car and went out for and adventure to Terra Natura(kinda like a zoo) it was well worth the $$$ Fly outta Standsted and enjoy the short flight.

Jacque --- 15 years ago -

For those who don't know about it, you might give the Air Force Vacation Club a look. There looks to be some excellent deals on their website!
