My husband and I want to get a dog for our daughter and we have agreed our dog will be a Husky. We know all about them and everything so don't bash me on that. I am wondering how we can find out how much it would cost to bring it back with us. Due to lack of time and money at the time we had to leave my beagle in the states with my family. It hurts me but I get to see him everyday and when I go back I pamper him as much as I can. I miss him. We are leaving Sept 2011 so we can start saving the money now if we got a dog. Anyone who has big dogs or anyone know where I can start looking for prices please let me know. If you feel like starting a new discussion on bashing military who get dogs and don't bring them with them DO NOT start here. I want advice and help ONLY!! Thanks in advance.

You're best bet is to call airlines and get quotes now, jsut to give you an idea of how much it will be in the future.

there is a pet scoop class this Friday at the family readiness center. I highly suggest you go there for accurate info. I went in Feb, and I;m going again on Fri just to be sure :-)

And by the way, good on you for starting to save to send him back now :-)

Don't think I will be able to make it Fri. Only problem with checking airlines is if the Air Force sends us home we won't get to pick the airline. Right?

there is a pet courier service that takes care of the animals themselves. Did you want that number?

I was hoping I would get some responses in regaurds to how much people out there had paid for there dogs (the size of a husky) to come over to give me an idea if we should do it now or wait until we get back to the states.

I have a friend who is shipping a lab/newfie mix who is 90 pounds and I think she's paying at least $1600,00. I would plan on spending at least 2,000 just to be safe.

When I PCS'd from Belgium to the U.S. it was $100 per leg of the trip. And there are restrictions as to what time of year you PCS. Either way you are able to claim the fees on your taxes as "non-reimbursed fees as a result of the the PCS"

KMS, how long are you gonna be in the UK and who has your dog now?

Will be here until next Sept. My parents have my dog now in the states. He will stay there until we get back from here. My daughter loves dogs and thought since we are getting another when we get back we could get one now and bring it back. Just wanting to know how much before we commit to it here. I love my beagle in the states and can not wait to be back with him. Just did not have the time and money then to do anything.

oh right, I thought you were looking to bring your dog in the states here. If you do decide to get another dog here, I would open up a savings account to start saving specifically to ship it back....that way you are earning interest. You can put like 50 dollars in every pay period...just in case :-)

Susan --- 183 days ago -

We've been quoted $4,000 exactly to ship our two dogs back to the States.

Matt --- 183 days ago -

I have heard nothing less than $2000 to ship a dog and know of one person who paid $3500 from Asia to UK for one dog
